Jaguar Land Rover Racing Ahead With Electrification at Frankfurt Motor Show

Frankfurt, 13th September, 2017: Jaguar Land Rover, the UK’s premium automotive company, electrifies at Frankfurt Motor Show with six model debuts and a world first announcement.

Jaguar Racing is launching the world’s first international championship for production-based electric cars, the I-PACE e-TROPHY. The ten-race series, due to take place in some of the world’s greatest cities including Hong Kong, Paris, Rome, New York and Sao Paolo, is launching as the exclusive support race to the FIA Formula E championship in season 5 – at the end of 2018. The race series supports the launch of the Jaguar I-PACE, Jaguar’s first battery electric vehicle and reinforces Jaguar Land Rover’s future electrification strategy, commitment to electric street racing and ‘Race to Innovate’ mission.

The new Discovery SVX is a production preview of the ultimate all-terrain Land Rover Discovery, with a 525PS 5.0-litre supercharged V8 petrol powertrain. As the most extreme and powerful Land Rover yet, with go-anywhere capability, it has increased ground clearance, body and suspension lifts, more wheel articulation and large all-terrain tyres. A specially tuned Terrain Response 2 system and Active Roll Control are firsts for the new Discovery. The Discovery SVX will be the first Land Rover assembled by hand at the SVO Technical Centre when production begins in 2018.

Jaguar Land Rover’s latest sales figures (to 31 August 2017), show an encouraging customer response to the company’s innovative product portfolio, with retail sales in the calendar year to date at 401,565 (up 8% on 2016).
