We are a nation searching for fulfilment! Two thirds of people in the UK feel unfulfilled

Friday 23 March 2018: New research released today shows that we are generally a nation that feels unfulfilled in our lives, with two thirds of us (66%) claiming that we feel this way. At the same time, we are a nation that wants to do more with our lives with three in five of us having a bucket list.

The research also reveals that in general, people are quite strapped for time, having only done between one and five challenges that make up their lifetime bucket list, but this does very much depend on where you live. The most time-poor being Londoners, who claim they only have 83 minutes a day to do what they want. This compares to people in the South-West who have the most time (130 minutes), followed by the South-East (108 minutes), Scotland (107 minutes) and Yorkshire (104 minutes).

Interestingly, Londoners are most likely to consider themselves fulfilled (45%), meanwhile being the most time poor. Whereas people who have more time and consider themselves the most unfulfilled including South West (24%), Scotland (23%) and Yorkshire (21%). Demonstrating that having more time, doesn’t necessarily result in feeling you have a fulfilled life.

As well as geography, annual earnings also dictate how time-poor people feel. 48% of people who earn between £20,000 - £45,000 claim they don’t have enough time to do what they want in life. Whereas almost three quarters of those earning more than £45,000 feel that they do.
